ZIMO MX699 (for large scale)

Just noticed the first specs for this series. One interesting feature: 3 Supercap ( former Goldcap) capacitors are included (total of 9F which should be good for 1-5 sec power backup ( depends what all is consuming juice).

So far the info is only on the German language site — the milage may vary.

3 of the 3F super caps in series results in 1F for the decoder.

Doesn’t say how they’re set-up, so I don’t know.

The other new feature is a separate connection to control the fan of an additional smoke generator which runs independent of the first.

I am guessing at series as the other Zimo decoders use capacitors in the 16 to 17 volt terminals and the 3F caps I am sure are low voltage.

I agree. I went on a short “how does that usually work” search, since I never used one of those critters (yet). Apparently they are limited to the 5 to 5.5V range and there were a few write-ups how people arranged them in series and parallel configs to get more umph for all kinds of non-MRR applications.

The new decoder still has the usual connection points to add extra umph as required/desired.
