Large Scale Central

RS-36

A few people have been PM’ing me about how i’m doing the Gp-30 project, which is almost done, so I will try to document how I started the project with this one

Obviously it starts with a prototype

Existing drawings do help

i can insert the drawing in sketch up 2014 and trace the image and then size the tracing to scale

from there I can start with a frame (It’s a 3d drawing however it is no where near ready to send to a 3d printer at this point) This is only a line drawing of a 3d model if that makes sense

Now that I have a basic drawing almost done (I have the roof still left to do before this can happen) , I will rip this 3d model apart and make the pieces 3d printable,

Looking good Mark. Whats the difference between a RS-36 and a RS-11? Other then the short hood on the nose end I don’t see much difference, but of course I’m more of a steam guy then a diesel guy.

ALCo RS-36

ALCo RS-11

Visually mostly in the back, air intakes/exaust are differnt, inside the prime mover in the rs -32/36 is actually smaller less HP

I like the RS11 better. But then I am not a modern diesel fan.

Working the roof sections tonight

Looks good Mark. How about a RS11 front section with the cab? Sure make finishing my RS11 model alot easier.
