Large Scale Central

April 3rd, 2019

Time off from work yeah! I’ll work on the layout…or, I can just run a train. lol. Yeah. Let’s do that instead of work. haha.

First time the chessie sd40-2 has been ran since the front motor block let go over a year ago. I had a buddy that needed the worm gears, so I pulled them out. Now, she’s rear wheel drive. lol.

Very nice Matt! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I’m surprised to hear about the motor block??

Thanks Joe!

Thanks Andy. I bet I still got lost though. haha!

Thanks Dan!

Cuz, the front motor block burned up a year ago at Robby’s spring open house. About the 1:30 mark here: https://youtu.be/JDMsLI1DECc But, it had been acting up for probably a year prior. It would just randomly run at about 1/2 speed. I thought it was a battery issue and Robby replaced the battery. It didn’t fix it. We determined that it was going bad. Even at 1/2 power it would do o.k pulling a short train. Well, on day 2 of Robby’s spring open house I took it up there to lead a long train. That was all it took. I knew something was wrong on the back side of the layout. I had to keep upping the speed. That’s when I got up next to the engine and I coudl hear it being shoved. The front block dide and you could smell it as it went by. Mabye one of these days USA Trains will get the motor blocks back in. Until then, it’s rear wheel drive. lol.

The railroad is coming along real nice Matt . I like the low angles you film from , very realistic . Lots of good spots to railfan from .

A good video Matt. I like when videos show RR equipment doing RR stuff and not just running in circles.

It looks like that engine is doing just fine as a 6 wheel drive unit.

I most certainly agree with Todd, Roundy round is fine when drinking beer but sometimes you have to make them do something besides be pretty

nice video, and glad to see the ladder on the autorack magically was straightened up before end of the video! LOL dang USA and there detail parts!
