Live steam Shay in yesterdays snow

Live steam Shay in yesterdays snow

Great video Shawn. I really like the low angle shots when the train goes by. The burn barrel at the end is great.

Shawn,

Great video. I also have an Accucraft Shay. I was wondering, do you have RC in your Shay? And if so how did you do it.

Colin I don’t have RC in the Shay. It’s slow enough that it’s not needed. I try to avoid RC in live steam if I can .

Cool Vid Shawn,

I’m guessing that is the exhaust the steam exhaust routed up through the cab roof? To bad the didn’t run that up into the smoke box so it came out the stack. Your layout just keeps looking better!

Shawn, I don’t think I have seen a better setting for a railroad. I probably say this on all your winter videos, but I love to see live steam in the snow. Maybe it just me, but the snow accumulation and snowfall in this video almost looked to scale. The accumulation was just right and the snowfall was perfect. Who’d you call to make that happen??? Great video and thanks for sharing.

His house came with a snow making machine on the roof, that’s why he bought it. It even snows in the summertime at his place…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thanks, Randy. That steam coming out of the cab is the safety valve going off.

Haha thanks guys. Ken would disagree with me but there is no better time to run a train but in the snow. sometimes I get lucky and everything works out for that perfect snow amount. This time I was off from work and the tracks never iced up. Most times I end up with too much snow.

Very nice Shawn, I always enjoy watching life in the forest

You are getting way too good at hiding that pull string !

Morning Shawn,

I imagine your World is pretty full these days with the young family and Christmas coming. I shared your video with Jan this morning at breakfast and we both enjoyed and were amazed by your efforts. Thank you for sharing. No matter what Rooster says, you do have a talent.

Shawn,

Do you treat the logs so the bark doesn’t eventually fall of? Or do you just replace the logs?

Ric Thanks I appreciate the kind words. Yes been very busy, not easy trying to juggle things these days between family and hobbies. Its good to see you are enjoying retirement, always enjoy following you on FB. Have a good Christmas

Joe I haven’t done anything to the logs the bark seems to stay on with no issues. I do keep them with the log cars in a rubbermaid when not in use. That seems to help preserve them and the type of wood used.

Probably a historic question for Mrs. Viggano. Time for the order of the “Red Pen” !

Forgot the “I” after the “G” as I want to be punished by the “Red Pen”!
