45 ton dimensions and compatibility

Anyone know the dimensions of a Bachman 45 ton diesel? Also any pictures of size comparison with a USA trains Overton car?

I have one on the track now, can measure it and post later tonight. I don’t have an Overton car but I might have a photo handy posed with a 1:20 Connie and a supposedly 1:20 Indy. Looking…FOUND!

That’s a 1:29 RS-3 far left. If I remember, the Overton cars are 1:24 so the 45 Ton is going to look pretty big with them.

Width 5.75"

Length 17" (outside Accucraft couplers)

Height 7.375" (above rail head)

I have toyed with the idea of getting a 45 ton loco, but they’re just so damned big. A few years ago, they were selling in the area of a hundred dollars. If the motor blocks are anything like the Davenport, the 45 ton must be a hell of a puller.

Thanks for help guys. Dan that’s where I’m at now. They are appealing just to big. For me it has to look right. I have a Davenport and it’s a good runner. I wish the center cab wasn’t so big.:frowning:

At one time they could be had for $50. I bought 4 at that price, later sold off two and have two in service. They are big - prototype is a standard gauge re-gauged to 36". I run 1:20 stock so it looks good. It doubles as a mobile clearance gauge. If Dizzie fits, everything else will.

I got mine from Ridge Road station back in 2005…but it was $65. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

I wasn’t terribly fond of the appearance so had to change it a bit…
