David, If you watch some of the youtube videos, prototype operations involves lifting and carrying over or around obstacles! Hmm - Not as fun.

Same here!  I love all these small locos. So much great modeling potential, so little time!

I just just received a package in the mail. I B-Mann lil hauler set the yellow one with the tender and two passenger cars. I will be picking up another loco so that I can use the two drives for a mini-Garratt.

Actually Dave I bought this set specifically so I could get the passenger cars along with the loco.  Their size will be perfect for the indoor. I will convert them to dual axle trucks and link and pin couplers. I will put some benches in them and give them some people. They are a great size for a excursion train on the Sinsley Mountain Logging & Mining Co.

I plan to buy another single loco and tender set for my project. I could buy another short set with the cars again and then work you a deal. Loco and tender shipped is $55.00 bucks. The set is $79.00 shipped. If you want the cars for $24.00 plus shipping We could work out a deal.

Yep. Heck of a deal. The whole set to my door $79.00 bucks. I ordered it on the 15th and had it yesterday. I wouldn't even have thought that possible. I will be buying at least another loco from him so I can make the Garratt.

I looked for a 2-2-0 locomotive, just out of curiosity.  They existed, but only in British profile, no North American.  I didn't think you'd be interested.

I don't know that I would likely build a 2-2-0 in lieu of other designs but if I were to it would be an American concept design just like I will whenI guild the Garratt someday. Protolancing Steal the design idea and make it your own. I am not above that.

      Here ya go;

Now you can use a passenger car for a cab!

      The beat goes on ....

About a year ago I decided to give Devon my stock piled dreams and what ifs, picture by picture, Lord knows I'll never get to a tenth of 'em!

Wow, these are great.  I hear my muse talking.  She's saying... I can almost make it out...  Oh, yeah, here it is... "Get your other half done projects finished before you take on anything new."

On the second little 2-2-0 ( the one from the book )  Did anyone notice the size of the steam dome?  Its huge, as big around as the boiler.  Maybe it doubles as a storage drum, or something.

Back in the early days of steam, it was thought that a big steam dome was needed. More modern locomotives have much smaller ones. But that one takes the big dome concept to a whole new level.

I disagree with that comment Maynard. However you may be in the modern category.

That is the Jenny Lind .....I could tell you all you would like to know about her if you wish and I don't even model steam locos but I sure love my history!

She was the pay train and built by Seth Wilmarth at Union Loco Works in Boston for the CVRR. She was the sister loco to the Pioneer and Utility .

Rooster mentioned Paycar and reminded me of a similar gem ... I used to have a much larger pic, but the pc died.

      She ran in central California.

Rooster the CV is the Cumberland Valley, no?
