Acco. My other hobby

This is a 1974 Acco 1810A that I owned and sold some years ago. I got her back after tracking her down and decided to restore her to what she was like when I owned her, but better. A new cabin and rewiring. (never going to do that again) and some serious sanding 2 pack under coat then more sanding and more undercoat and more sanding then final couple of coats of 2 pack and the outside of the cabin was done. THEN… onto the rest of it, Resprayed all the inside of the cabin new rubbers new screen new side rubbers replacement seats the list just went on and on… Taken me 3 years of hard work swearing, raw hands from sanding and then some, Not being able to breath after respraying the inside and then more work underneath on the chassis and axles blah blah blah. The list goes on. Asked once why I chose this truck to restore my answer was a simple “cause I can”. The upshot of all this is that after 3 years she is almost done and I was asked by a certain classic truck society pres. if I would be willing to show her in the Truck show later this year. Stunned.!!!

So…for your perusal…

And still not finished!!!

Hummmmmmmmmm any other link… this one not working??

Seems photo bucket likes playing games. Did it the hard way

No one seems to care about restoring old commercial vehicles, a real pleasure to see it done. Looks great!!!

What are you going to do with the box? keep it as is or restore it?

The cab looks great.

Thank you

I have done a lot of hunting around for the Aluminium siding for the box. Because the truck is so old and the box was made at the same time by a company that does not exist anymore, it is no longer made with that profile you see. I had given thought to putting a tray on it and have found one for a small fortune. When the fella that has that comes down to earth a bit I may put that on or replace the siding on the box with smooth side aluminium. That would I think take some of the character of that part but there seems to be no alternative.

Yep…I agree!

Each year on Father’s Day weekend, the truck show is held locally (a few hundred yards from Mack Truck assembly plant). Some amazing and unusual commercial vehicles are on display and running. Here are a few of my favorite from a few years ago.
