More rock and plants

Slopes and water = erosion

Removed part of an Allen Block wall, since it tilted (slope pressure because of the irrigation) and replaced it with rock. That also provides a nicer transition between the On-ground and Elevated section at that end of the line.

Another area will get more rock because the watering tends to wash soil down the steep slope. OTOH no irrigation means crummy plants.

Now, if I can convince SWMBO to plant plenty of ground cover, get it well established and add the trees the next season.

Added this year’s water plants. With “Raven” (Seppala Husky) cooling off in the pond after the walks, we now hang the plants like flower boxes away from where “Her Highness” walks in.

Back to work.

Looks like pretty wild country…

What is the material that you used for your roadbed?

The Ladder method using strips of TREX

Looks like that hose would wreck trains

Never mind the hose, look at that plant life growing up between the rails!

That’s what happens when rail traffic is at a standstill all summer. We’re still in the catch-up phase this year.

But the traffic pause allowed several areas to show what they are, a PITA, and now take counter measures to remedy those areas. One step at a time.

…:)…

There are a lot of instances on our prototype where the PITA factor came into play and still does. “Conquering nature” is a dubious proposition at best in 1:1 or 1:22.5.

Of course one could build on flat ground and call it a mountain railway. Would make perfect sense to some people I know.

It could be the top of a mountain. Your just not seeing where it drops off
