“A local carpenter working on some quarry tile in one of our bathrooms said, I should look in to a particle board called “Advantic”. He stated, they have been amazed at how it holds up as sub-flooring over foundations and being exposed to wind, rain and snow for up to 3 months without any signs of absorbtion, swelling or delaminattion. Might be worth a look.”

and David Marconi responded -

“Advantex is definately a step up in particle board and does hold up to normal weather exposure during construction, even long term. Might not be a bad choice for a sub layer. It does have a very hard slippery surface from the treating it gets or epoxy that’s used. It is also tongue and groove edged.”

After cutting if edges were resealed with epoxy and it was kept painted it should hold up pretty good. Ventilation may be needed where it touches the base. The problem some people have had with the concrete board sucking moisture on it’s edge really has me thinking and rethinking building materials.

This is the online site GUARANTEE along with other manufacturer info on advantech

Hope this helps

Good site, thanks. I think I’m going to have to try this.

Tried too get some of this for my boat deck (1/2" sheathing) was told I could get it from the manufacturer if I bought a truck load. They did have the 3/4 T&G in stock though but was too much weight for my boat project so I have not tried this product YET. I’m sure I will though.
