      Looking for used/broken Bachmann C-19

Hello, I am new to the Forum, but had been lurking here for a while beforehand. I am planning to build a D&RG 2-8-0 Class 56 Locomotive in F scale, and from what I can tell, using a Bachmann C-19 Chassis would be a good way to start off as the two locomotives are very similar in design, especially the chassis except for the position of the rear driver.

So I am looking to buy a used or possibly broken Bachman Spectrum C-19. I don't have the largest budget, and I'll be changing a lot on the locomotive so I don't need the entire thing to be functional. I just need loco chassis that are in decent shape. Tender trucks and the motor would probably be something I'd want as well, and there are other things I could recycle off of the C-19 like cab interior decorations and domes depending on if they aren't "fluted" at the top/smooth, but these are mostly wants more than needs. The Bachmann online parts store does have C-19 Chassis, however, I'm not too sure about its pricing, and I've had a very poor experience with buying things off there in the past and would rather avoid going through them.

      Thanks in advance.

      Joe,

I wish you luck. I have a second one that I purchased when they were offered at reasonable prices, that is almost completely torn down to make a class C-18. to do this requires a new main rod, new side rod section and  a replacement section of the frame  and new crossheads. I have a lot of this planed out but have yet to do any actual cutting. I will attach a photo of my models. the replacement parts would need to be cast in brass. Al P.

Star Hobby in MD bought up the last stock and there prices are pretty low. Not rock bottom though.

All they have left is the RGS 40 version for $600.  Even though that's about $200 more than I paid for mine; I'm tempted. I don't really need a second one, but they are the best running loco in my fleet.

The version I chose for this conversion is the undecorated model with the rounded domes, and red windows. which is now hard to find. it was the closest to the desired detail level.
