As for the prototype’s livery I would have have made a different choice - but - the red smokebox front at least relates to a North American reality during what is called the Early Rail period. Or at least what I presume to have been a reality after reading it years ago in a railroad book which had some level of legitimacy.
So you could say it has a precedent here. I don’t know enough about South and Central American railroads to know if it has a precedent there.
And after paging through 5 of those books here I’ve given up checking my memory.
Anyway, at someplace I don’t recall in the northeast, probably in New York State, in order to aid switch tenders at a busy congested terminal, in probably the 1840s or 1850s, one railroad painted the smokestacks of their locomotives red.
Part of the story is that eventually a neighborhood boy ran home shouting about how the thing was gonna blow because the chimney was red hot.
Wonder if that is in the book on the history of signalling that I’ve not come across tonight in the various shelves and piles of books in here.

The red stack thing is recorded in book “Iron Rails in the Garden State: Tales of New Jersey Railroading” By Anthony J. Bianculli, Indiana University Press, 2008.
On page 25.
Railroad was New Jersey RR and Transportation Company where it crossed paths with as well as shared trackage with the broad gauge Erie. Red stacks were to aid busy and probably overworked switch tenders, the ones with the red stacks will not be able to use the broad gauge tracks of the Erie, so don’t switch them on to Erie’s tracks to Newark, New Jersey.

Didn’t the same guy who scratchbuilt the ‘1/1 scale’ 4-4-0 Leviathan build one of this too?

Being a modeler myself, I would just like to tell you on how nice the engine turned out, paint work was tops in my book. Repainting all my engines and rolling stock is my favorite part of the hobby for me, I rebuilt two LGB Moguls 2-6-0 to look like 2-8-0 Consolations, my favorite D&RGW NG engines, #268 and 278.
