Wow Shane, that's amazing work. That "tunnel" under the deck is really neat, and it looks like you have enough vertical crawl space to get under there, because I'm sure you worked all that out. Very cool!

Oooh, you could almost make a creeper that ran on your dual track...

Are you going to make the deck bridge over the track and build new steps down to the lawn?

      I know Sean.  No excuses.

Thanks Cliff. Yes, I can crawl around underneath if ever required. Luckily I had that gravel all around my yard, so I was able to gather it up and throw it under the deck to clean things up. The left side is going to sit 2 feet higher, so I'll have even more room. My plan is to surround the deck with mountains high enough to hide it. I'll probably build a path into them for easy access to the yard. The upper level, if ever complete, will run along the end of the deck. That will allow me to put trains together right on the deck and then run them out to the lower tracks. The biggest mountain will sit against the higher section of the deck, and will have access from under the deck if there are any issues. Eventually I want to have a river with a larger lake as well. Retirement is certainly busy.

There's a guy on another thread ( Virginia City Central Mountain Project  ) that I'm watching very closely. I'm hoping he will teach me everything I'll need to know to build my mountain range.

Sean, so much pressure.   I'm trying hard. I think railings and ballast will have to wait until next year.

There will be a landing ( and steps ) at the right 8" lower then the upper level that will anchor it

      Thanks Guys.

No hot tub Cliff. That's not really my thing. One of the previous owners did have one on the section I removed.

      Roger that; same here.

Your deck work looks great, is that aspect done, or are you still building it?

Cliff, I'm still working on the lower left chunk. I need to dig out the flower bed, and remove the posts attached to the side of the deck and then replace the front board. Then I'll lay a few boards across the top. The double upper main will run along the lower deck, and under the overhang when ( IF ) complete.

I'm also trying to complete my SD40-2w before the summer is over, and have started work on my priority winter project - a pair of SD75I's.

Here's a teaser. ( I bet most people have never noticed that the nose lights on the SD70/75's are not centered. )

      Shane
