I am a big fan of elevating the railroad!  It is easier AND it limits my spending.  A rainstorm in 2018 made me glad my railroad is above level, too, for climatological reasons:

Your railroad may be in the most exciting phase, as you are still free change your mind to set the foundation for what will come! Enjoy the process of crafting your vision of a railroad!

holy drainage problems!!! eric you may need a little drain work in the future! I have heard Hawaii gets some rain occaisionaly so that may be a future issue

I've never seen the entire back yard done as a Koi Pond. That your idea of showing your railroads true location in the middle of the Pacific Eric ?

Funny, guys!  Didn't mean to hijack Paul's thread with this shot, but this photo came after we installed French drain (visible lower right) AND a series of gutters to direct water away from the backyard in 2012!  Prior to that, water backed into the house.  Subsequent tropical storms and hurricanes have left significant puddles and a nice stream running down the fence, but nothing like the simulation of a Pacific island railroad like this!     Then again, maybe a swim-up RR with koi circling about might be fun.  You could hook up the auto-inflator on your SCUBA kit's buoyancy control device to power air-operated turnouts!

Bottom line Paul, lots of options to elevate to suit your climate and your goals!

Looks like some battery operated radio controlled river boats could be added.

      Finally, some (potential) interest...

This might add something to it, as soon as I get the scene out of the kitchen and integrated into the layout!

      Paulmac,

I've had good luck using the following:

      1. Put the image in a cloud-based storage site.  I use OneDrive.
      2.  OneDrive has an "embed image" function.  This mystically, magically creates a web address you can copy and paste to stuff.
      3.  Come back to your post here.  Click on the Insert/Edit Image icon.
      4.  Paste in the mystically, magically created web address!

I am sure other file hosting sites work in a similar fashion.

      Aloha.

      Eric

Eric, I found the "embed" option at OneDrive asked me for my login. That suggests sometimes it won't display if you aren't logged in as me? And other hosting sites can be very tricky. Photbucket decided to charge $400/yr, I think, for the option to link a photo to another website.

Instead, I did a right-click on the pic and then "copy image location". Then paste that location into the LSC Image box and here you are.
