Holiday Trains 2019 (Personal and Public Displays)

It’s my favorite time of the year again, the holiday season. One of my favorite things about my favorite season is the prevalence of trains! Train gardens, as they are known in the Baltimore area, have been a holiday tradition for generations. It was probably at one of these train gardens that I had my first exposure to model trains as a young child.

Please feel free to post pics and info about any and all holiday train displays that you would like to share. Whether it be a display your club is involved in, or the train under your tree, show us your holiday trains in 2019!

( ALL SCALES WELCOME)

The Susquehanna Valley Garden Railway Society has set up a large display for many years at Rocky Ridge Park in York, PA. It is approximately 20x50 ft and is one of the highlights of their Christmas Magic light show that runs from Nov 29th to Dec 31st. The display includes both indoor and outdoor trains running through holiday scenery. The kids especially look forward to the Thomas train we run each year.

The Garden Factory in Rochester, NY has had a wonderful G Scale layout since 1994. Originally built by Peter Todd and Dave Rouse the layout was significantly refurbished in 2012 and runs each day from Thanksgiving to Dec 31.

The Canadian Pacific’s two “Holiday Trains” (Christmas Trains) have both started their annual tours.

Was surprise this year posting…Not much to see on home Christmas trees. Even decorations or a Trains running around the tree.

Here is ours

So not much this year . We put up one of our detailed Trolley going around our Tree just for the grand kids

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Last weekend we held our 2nd annual Christmas on the Redwood Creek and Tallulah Ridge Railroad Open House and hosted quite a few onlookers over the two day event. We converted our garden layout to a festive winter wonderland complete with snow and holiday lights and decorations for all of the buildings. We had hot cider and cookies, a scavenger hunt for kids of all ages and a raffle for a Lionel Polar Express. We had a lot of fun putting it all together and are planning on making this an annual tradition. Here are few pictures of what we did…enjoy
