Huntington sore of

Not wanting to mess up the thread on the Huntington thought I would start a new, there is some weird stuff out there.

It is simply amazing what turns up in the seemingly-inexhaustible BW archives (with enough effort).

Agreed…

Single prototype E-6 # 5075…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Railroad_class_E6

Wye?

From the same website as the first photoshopped drawing

Here’s a reasonable bunch strange steam engine pictures. If you modify the search word to be: ugly, weird, etc. additional images will be displayed.

Mark, I like this one…I’d model it if I could! I like all that stuff on the front.

edit: I’m assuming the engineers can see between the “extender” and the body of the boiler? But actually it looks like they can’t; how do they see where they’re going?

^^^^ Some sort of smoke abatement system or a method to reclaim the water vapor from the exhaust ?

John:

Well if you want to down scale a bit to HO there is the Deutsche Reichsbahn BR 57, by Micro Metakit for “only” $2,700, that appears to be the source of your picture.

There is also this page that has some rather strange looking locomotives and it includes two shots of the above model.

Lean out the cab side, I suspect.

Reality can be quite odd at times.

VIc, I was wondering what you were referring to, but after I stared at Greg’s post and tried to figure out where it came from (“S Berliner III” ??) I came back past here and got the “Aha!” moment.

The EGR valve? exhaust gas recycler …

Thanks a lot, pal. Thanks to you, I just wasted 45 minutes of my precious time on this earth digging through that website! Ha! And a good time it was too!

Don’t look at it as a “wasted” time, look at it as an opportunity for other possible locomotives to model.

You are welcome! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-kiss.gif)
