Eric , my google says 2601 miles as the seagull flies from Honolulu to Portland, LOL

yeah same here I get miles off my credit card and thats kind of determining if and how we go there this year. would love to ride the Starlight up and back.

      Brave folks taking a train...

Nice idea though - getting a group together.

By the way, where are the good restaurants in town?

To print your LSC Membership card, select "My Profile," then "more," then "membership card," then "print membership card."  Wear it proudly.

Interesting thread. Might there be any interest in having a "Hospitality Room", maybe in one of the Clinic rooms during an empty time slot? Looking at maybe Tuesday evening 7-9pm or Thursday evening 8-9pm.

Let me know if this sounds like something you would like to do.

      Michael,

I think that the whole reason for this thread is to get folks together at the convention.  To have a room would be great!  Thanks!  I think Thursday would be best, for me.  What say the rest of you?

If someone at the show attends the get-together, and has a lap top; he/she could drop into the LSC Chat room, and let chatters hear what is happening real time, and chat with a few of the attendees...

JUST, PLEASE; let the chat room regulars know that you guys will be "On Line" so we can be sure to be here for you.

Not everyone can attend the show/convention...especially those of us in the East...

I'm open to it. Anytime would be fine.  Going in for a hip replacement this coming Monday.  According to the Doc's, it should be good to go by then.

I can't come down for the whole week, so I'm probably just going to make a day trip on Sat. to hit the public show. If everyone was getting together on Friday, I might be able to swing a Friday afternoon/evening thing.

I'll be driving up and stopping at the layouts near Salem on Tuesday before heading to the Convention Hotel. I plan on driving my Subaru Forester to visit the layouts... I'll have my daughter with me but I don't think she's too keen on visiting the layouts everyday. I'll probably have room if anybody needs a ride.

Not a chance with me! I read the chat group, and the many times my name is "foully" mentioned... not a welcome place at all....

...Any "Unwelcomeness", usually is caused equally by personality clashes between Chat regulars and visitors...it can be found to be a welcoming place, most of the time, if respect is shown between participants...   I've had my moments too, but usually I did my equal part in creating friction...SMILE, be less aggressive, and join in the real fun...we all learn if we take the time to want to...

This truth you speak of is quite far from reality! LSC chat has always been a welcoming place while folks destroyed / argued on other toy train sites that no longer exist (wonder why)!

Greatness matters not as we are all playing with model trains here .

Thankful we are to have a forum as such!

I have a ticket for the Coast Starlight to travel, but I am unaware of any group.
