I saw them yesterday..., but not today.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on either because I saw them yesterday too. They were fantastic! I know we didn't remove them so I'll send a message to Dropbox staff and see if they know what's going on, if that's even the problem. Photos here have been quite an issue for me and now for others to but I don't know if it's related to the site or Dropbox. I'll see if I can find out. No guarantees though because this has been a problem for a while.

      Thanks for trying! Ken

      Ken,

Did you know that you can place your pictures right here on LSC in two different locations for nada?  I don't know if they load from a phone, but you could ask the moderator.

      Todd,

I do know we have photos in our albums if you click on our name above but I didn't know of any other locations. We have an awful lot of photos and I'm not sure if there be enough data space to post them. I might try to contact the moderator so that we will have enough information about where to post photos and information at our meeting. Thanks Todd! Oh by the way, I sent a letter out today. Ken

At the top of the page you see "Albums" and "Freight Sheds" both of which will host you pictures for nothing.  As for quantity, it is limited, but I have probably well over 100 photos, most of which are very large bit-wise.

I have used literally ALL of my space and can't load another pic here without removing something.  The moderators are not real keen on that because it disrupts the existing threads when the pics don't show.

I see, appreciate the information. Something to consider with all the other possibilities.

      Thank you Todd!

      Ken,

I personally respect / appreciate your posts and what they are all about  " promoting the hobby " !    So you can gladly have my Freight Shed space that I do not use and I will certainly donate more space for you to use . However you need to upload them to LSC and that is on you.

Not gonna help with loading them but will pay for the space if needed. LSC always has and always will rule and what you are doing says a lot!

You need someone to help you with the loading the pics ....period.....can you ask one of the kids that you have inspired to help ?

      Rooz,

Appreciate the offer. I will check all this out as I have never done further research into the other options here on Large Scale Central. I have been busy with spring/summer event preparations and getting and training new volunteers. Some are kids that help out and it takes more time and training but your right, they will be more apt to know how to do all the uploading, etc.

As mentioned before, I have only been using various forums and hosting sites that have many errors/problems. I have had a few offers here from kind folks, that we need to consider but I gotta admit, the extra space here is tempting. Let me look into it a bit further and if you are on this site regularly, I'll send a PM when we figure out what might work best.

Greg had a good offer also and I will hopefully not disappoint anybody with whatever is decided because everyone has really gone out of their way to help and it is not taken for granted and really appreciated.

We'll be in touch and thank you again!

Can't get Dropbox to respond for some reason. Contact links display errors. Anyone know why these photos won't post, disappear when reformatted or link issues?

I just wonder if it's something with this site or Dropbox or too much data use on my albums??? Maybe better with freight shed, etc. or???? Ideas..

If I change all this, do I keep my albums active or does it create additional problems with too much data usage from using both sections on LSC?

      Ken,

Unless you have a paid subscription to Dropbox and can set a "link expiration" date, your links are expiring. That's why your pictures appear for a while and then are gone. There is nothing wrong with LSC as far as picture posting is concerned.

I switched long ago to a system where I paid for my site, so I could guarantee I was in control of my storage.

The fiasco with MLS has taught a lot of people a lesson.

I also keep copies of ALL my pictures on a separate backup hard drive. Hard drives are cheap, so cheap it's not a plausible argument to not back up.

My issue was that with the time invested to make a web site with about 750 pages, changing them if my pictures found a new home was not a possibility I wanted to encounter. About 18 years later and 2 million hits, it seems that this was a wise decision.

There are places that will set you up with a website for about $110 a year to start if you look.

      Greg

      Greg, Joe,

Good info. We'll figure all this out at our meeting.

Thanks for the offers and we'll let you know.

      Thanks again! Ken
