Large Scale Central

Creativity

I’m starting to think I’ve spent too much time on my layout being cautious and correct and realistic and prototypical. You know what, maybe it’s time to get creative and to hell with it.

Where is that John? I dare say it took more that a few days to whip together. For those that don’t know I have seen John’s railroad and he exhibits plenty of creativity AND realism.

John,

You only have to build what makes YOU happy. If you are like me, you will find a way to cross the two.

No! When we start counting rivets, it’s very important we agree down to the last one!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Creativity! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)I’m aghast!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Looks like a hotel in Vegas.

My oldest son sent me this. I asked him last night about it and he said it might be part of a Christmas display at the National Botanical Gardens in Washington D.C. He found the picture on a railroad forum I think.

They have a nice whimsical, fantasy, Harry Potter type display with a modern freight running on it. Not that creative. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Great… now I have to tear my layout apart and start all over. Thanks John. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Yeah, I spent about an hour there. I didn’t know about him until Ken and Dan pointed me in the right direction. I know it is NOT everybody’s cup of tea, he has a style all his own, just like George Selios distinct style isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, or our own John Caughey, but I came away with the same reaction: wow.

I read that he retired, although the company goes on. This is him on the left:
