Checking out garage sales today and found an old Charles Ro boxcar crew shanty remade into a Christmas decoration.
Paid a dollar to the lady and went away happy.
I will rework it into a yard crew shanty like the old Revell kit from the fifties.
I already have a caboose reworked into a Yard office.
Wish I could be so luck with finds like this!
Eric, the best I a have done so far is to nab a trashed Big Bird set for a few dollars. The cars have been upgraded and put into service.

James, you got a steal! USA Trains R1940C “Santa’s Workshop” has a smoking chimney & lights. A modified version of the USAT Rio Grande Roadside Shanty. Came out in 2011, I believe.

I often find usable items at garage and estate sales. I once found one of the LGB Stanz sets complete for $75.00.
A 25 cents horse shed I converted to a produce stand is pictured in October’s Garden Railways.
This find did have the smoke generator still attached. I hope it works.
