Well, the switch ladder does take up less distance then a typical arrangement. But all those S curves. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

It looks abandoned and where are the switch machines. I doubt that the ‘S’ curves were an issue like they are to us modelers
