Now that the thunder storms have passed, I'll grab my double horned aluminum hat and channel grasshopper ....

Blew out all me tubes, I took 'em down to test at the Rexall, but they tore it down years ago. Who else has a tube tester?

Radio Shack used to have one years ago.

I didn't think the subject mattered as much as keeping an eye out for our buddy, he expects my nonsense.

This way I stay positive instead of worrying ... sorry but ... watch out for the Cannonball!

It really is quite fun to leave you guys alone to wonder and speculate about me. The conversations turn hilarious.

Well since my last visit with you guys I had surgery #5 (#4 on the empty space between my ears). I got an infection in my shunt tubing and doc was worried it would travel to my brain and cause me serious problems. So three weeks or so ago the entire shunt was removed. I am back to square one all my symptoms have returned.

Time for a new doc. She doesnt want to work on me anymore and I am not to sure I want her working on me anymore. Time to move up the ladder. A friend here (Gary) has recommended Standord but my insurance wont pay for it. But one of the best neurosurgery hospitals in the country is the Swedish Hospitals Nueroscience Institute in Seattle and they are an in network provider. I am working with them now to get an appointment for a consultation. I need the shunt, there are no two ways about it. My neurologist and my opthamologist both agree it is the only answer. The meds just are not working.

So hopefully I will be headed forSeattle soon. They are in the process of gathering my records and then will review them and I should hear back next week.

As a result of all this I have not been railroading. The pike is winterized. And about all I can do is go to work and come home and go to bed. I am still slowly doing some shop organizing and building a large lumber rack so I have some room to work this winter. But that's about as much energy as I can muster.

Thanks all.of you for your thoughts and prayers and humor at my expense. I love reading it.

      Thanks for  checking in buddy.

I like to pass the worry about here, cause I figure if we all do it, then we can each worry less.

Chris that was funny. I want a spigot installed so when I feel the pressure I can just it and drain it myself.

      Devon,

I'm so sorry to learn that you are back to square one. I'm hoping the Swedish Hospitals Neuroscience Institute in Seattle can help you permanently! +++++

Sounds like a plan to me.

Even though you are back to square one, I'm glad you are still here to be able go there.

I have tried to impress on my children the importance that work place benefits are as important in not maybe more so than the pay check. My work pays 100% of my premiums for my me and my family. My insurance deductible is very low and so is my total out of pocket. I have had nearly half a million dollars in surgery, ER visits, doctors appointments, and meds. I have paid less than 5000.00. Still a lot of money I don't have but I will survive without bankruptcy. Not to mention they let me self refer so I can pretty much choose who I want to see as long as they are bluecross in network providers.

In addition I have five weeks of vacation each year and have accumulated over 300 hours of sick leave. I have not missed a single day of pay. That's huge not having a gigantic financial burden on top of all else.

So that means I can seek treatment just about anywhere in Washington without worry.

Yep, insurance is a good thing, and it pays to pay attention to how to make best use of it.

My wife has had some issues recently, and had 3 things, 2 of them serious.... we get the bills before the insurance pays. In about 3 months we racked up 1/2 million... so far total out of pocket for emergency room and intensive care and surgeries is ZERO... we have a good supplemental plan. We also tell the doctors "do not do anything not covered by Medicare"... zap!

      Greg
