Bluestone Southern Ops 6-10-18

Hey Matt, your gettin purty good at this stuff…

Make me really want to take a trip out east… If I could just figure out a way to convince the wife to take a long road trip during summer break. It’s only 33 hours of driving with 2 kids under 4. It shouldn’t be that bad right? Or hit up the St. Louis RPM, and head to Andy’s for an ops session.

Cousin Matt…you forgot the warning…We didn’t realize Boomer was going to be wearing his “chicken suit” in the beginning of the video upsetting the elder lady’s there with his loud whistle !

Slip a couple of those Phase3 Amtrak cars in your pants next time you leave there .

Thanks Ken! I finally learned “Andy Math” LOL!!!

Craig, it really is a sight to see. Can’t help ya with the kiddo’s. lol. The videos and pictures don’t do the layout justice. I’ve never even took video of the basement. That is another massive layout.

Cuz, that was my first time meeting Boomer. Actually, we didn’t get introduced until we stopped for snacks in the lounge. I’ll let you know next time he’s in a video with short pants on. lol!!! You know cuz, I didn’t even see the amtrak cars sitting out this time. I wonder if your dad has them hidden now. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)He may be on to you! Great video, Matt. You are doing a great job documenting all the switching puzzles. Thanks for what you do.

On a personal note, and nobody really cares about that, the HEAT is really beating my butt. Did less running this time than ever before. Doesn’t really matter, it was still a great weekend.

Saturday came with unbearable heat and then rain right at the time we were setting up. Didn’t really get setups started until around 1545. Hollywood and I did the Industrial Park Setup at BlueField.

We then ran the MCL1 Setup, which drops cars at Nashville, Addieville and on the Interchange at Woodlawn. That was it for Saturday.

Sunday, the heat was a little more bearable in the morning and did the setup of Freeman Spur, that Matt documented switching later in the day. By the time that was done, Dale Loyett and myself were both rags begging for water and the cool temps of the Crew Lounge. Did the pickup of MCL2, which is the gathering of the setouts at Sparta and Okawville. We also dragged the 4 grain hoppers from Addieville over to the siding by Nashville for the MCL1 Pickup, but new better than to try the downhill slide to Woodlawn with that much weight pushing on the power.

Despite the heat, the weekend was great! Got to meet new friends and swap tales with old friends. A big thanks to Andy and Jane for hosting this and putting up with squatters in their driveway.

.

September is coming, so make your plans now.

Great video Matt. Wish I could have been there!!

TM

Wow! I didn’t realize the Heat was in town! Was it a pants up or pant’s down beating and did Aunt Jan know about that?

Thanks for sharing Matt , I have a trip to Andys on my bucket list for sure.

Now that brings back some fond memories! What a great time - and such a nice video, as well. We’re planning on the October session and hoping it’s not too cold, or too hot, or too windy…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif) Anyway, really looking forward to it!

Umm, Bruce… You forgot to mention snowy or rainy or lightning or hail or earthquakes or the sky falling… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
