OK, 6 AAA batteries, runs for 1-2 hours (hmm… ), front of hood opens. Mesh cleaning material held to rails by where the pickup shoes are, sprung.

There is a on-off-reverse switch, and led lights front and rear… “setup for a smoke unit and a dcc decoder)”… setup to accept Kadee 831

What a long, drawn out, dreadful video that I found to be arduous to look at. I found myself fast fwd through much of it to find anything of value, like the little 25 ton switcher / track cleaning loco that Greg cited its attributes in just a few words.

It’s a nice advertisement for Piko, but I thought we were keeping advertising to the special forums created for this… but of course now I will be accused of being a bad guy…

In any case, did learn a bit more about this loco, which has been the source of a lot of speculation. Interesting that they used 6 AAA batteries, 700 or 800 mah is all you will get. So 8.4 volts at 0.7 amp hour fits the estimated 1 to 2 hours running, but that would be for a loco pretty much alone or with a very light load… the friction from the track cleaning pads will make a difference, and I believe the run time estimate does not take that into account

Clearly the real unit does not exist yet (as they are showing a mockup and delivery in October).

They did indicate they were going to use the “mesh”, which you will recognize as “drywall sandpaper” (The open mesh keeps it from clogging).

It should be a nice addition for track power layouts that get too oxidized to run a track power cleaning train.

Greg

AAA batteries? That’s disappointing (to me). I always have a bunch of AA batteries on hand, but I seldom have any AAA, because most everything lately seams to run on AA. So if I get the loco, it won’t be the track cleaning version.

But hey, at least its a new something in production, instead of the same old same old with a new paint job.

With the big difference in capacity (more than double to almost triple) between AA and AAA, I hoped they would have found a way to get AA’s inside.

Without seeing inside, that might have been impossible, but it was surprising to me.

Yes, a new product, that is good…

A whole lot of hype over very much of NOTHING…but if it sells toys to bored grandfathers trying to impress their grandchildren; I guess the used toy marked will grow in leaps and bounds, very shortly…

HOWEVER…if the hype, makes you happy, and impresses you…I wish you all the happiness available…

Ah ha. Well the sample one they have at the show looks interesting, and it even has some resemblance of an interior. I don’t know if the production one will have more interior detail or not, but at the very least its not an empty box in the cab.

The sample in this video is the same as the sample shown at the train show in the previous video by “Mr. Piko”… unchanged, no railings, not other extra detail. They mentioned they had an actual cab at the train show, but in this video note that they say the engineer needs his legs cut off to fit in the cab, so the latest information is actually worse in reference to the cab in my opinion.

Greg

one, only one closeup of the actual loco, I understand it is a 3d printed model, but you would think they would have at least for “big News” one that someone had finished to about what the actual product will come to the public as, I agree with Ted , there was no need for this to be 20some minutes long.

The advertisements are supposed to be in the vendor forums.

Trying to make more work for Bob on his weekend? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

We are supposed to be happy they post it here … at all.

In the scale of things I’d say it pales in comparison to my latest doctors visit with a New one that was sure to have an answer. After explaining a semi embarrassing set of symptoms, the doctor leans forward and asks me; Why are you here?

Missed the proper forum? No big deal, I’d let it go!

It’s not just my opinion, and the Vendor forums were made to allow advertisements, Bob did go to the effort to create them.
