Help to build fencing

Has anyone come up with a reasonable way of creating in 1:20.3 what appears to be common chain link fencing?

the only thing, i can think of - i have not done it, but seen often - is moscito screen for doors or windows.

just cut it diagonally and glue it, where you want it.

I haven’t done the math for 1:20.3 scale but woven wire mesh is a pretty accurate representation.

I’m thinking top will even give you scale sized cuts!

The squares would be 2.5 mm.

Dave,

Try out these folks. You may be able to get exactly what you need, just not sure about quantity.

Correct as common (residential) chain link is 2" aperture. 2.5mm is 8 mesh. https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Unpolished-Finish-E2016-06-Diameter/dp/B005H2UX5I

Commercial/Industrial chain link is 3.5" or 4.4mm in 1:20.3 - closest would be 5 mesh (4.5mm aperature)

The tricky part would be finding big enough pieces so you could cut diagonally without too much waste.

That said, I have found this at the local Michael’s craft store. It’s already cut on the diag and for $6.50 you get about 6’ of fence.

Personally I never use chain link fencinag for dinosaurs,…

I tried their Ultra Restore on some plastic models I had left out years ago when the layout was around the pond. Made the painted surfaces glow like they had just been painted, and cleared up the yellowed windshields, and lasts longer than toothpaste. If left outside re-application is down to once every 3-4 months instead of every couple weeks. I bring them in for the cold months now.

Let us know how that fence works for you.

Nice find. I wish it was taller though. At 2" that is only 3’ 5" in 1:20.3 or 4’ 5" in my scale (1:29).
