I have a Phoenix Big Sound 97 and a Sierra Soundtraxx sound units for the Shays.

1. Phoenix come with charging jack, three reed switches and 2 micro push buttons used for volume control and all my manuals, No speaker

2. Sierra Soundtraxx unit come with a regulator to eliminate the battery(DCC), the optional charging jack and Coupler Clank switch and chuff reed switch with magnets, none of the optional items have ever been installed. Manuals. No speaker

Both sound units will work on DC and DCC.

Where did you get the board from to eliminate the battery?

I made it myself from the manual that Sierra suggested for DCC operation.
