After a couple of months of having SSL enabled, it looks like its done a lot to screw up both photos and videos.

And that there is why I cringe when I hear someone say the word "update".

I think we had to learn about youtube, but video posting changes every couple of years anyway.

Not sure how it affected photos, but I do thank you Bob, for moving the forum forwards, there are too many password thieves to not have ssl enabled nowadays, how often do you read about data breaches.

Sure, no one SHOULD be using a sensitive password here, but they often DO, use the same as their bank, etc. So you are protecting them, and I thank you for them.

In order for videos to be embedded on https://largescalecentral, we need to have locations that have an https:// address. When Bob McCown made LSC a secure website we had to log in to the secure LSC. Apparently some of you are still logged into the non-secure LSC. That is why some of you can see the old videos and those who are on the secure LSC cannot. I have been reposting a lot of videos lately adding the "S" to the video address so we all can see the video.

Here is an explanation of what the internet says about secure websites...

What does it mean by https?
      Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with the Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. TLS is an authentication and security protocol widely implemented in browsers and Web servers.

Why do we need SSL Certificate?
Any computer in between you and the server can see your credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, and other sensitive information if it is not encrypted with an SSL certificate. When an SSL certificate is used, the information becomes unreadable to everyone except for the server you are sending the information to.

So, I imagine this is why my self-hosted video will no longer play.  My host offers a free certificate, but it only applies to the top level domain. My pictures and video are hosted in a sub domain :(  I could pay for a certificate that would cover all, but I don't see a reason.

      Jon,

Please point me to one of your self-hosted videos. I'd like to take a look to see if there is some work around I can come up with. If you do not mind that is.

You van find them all here: http://lsc.cvsry.com/Video/  It also might be something with my host. They used to work as direct links in a browser, but not at all now.  There was some changes at my host, so they might have broken a config file. I tried to fix web.config but it made no difference.

      Jon,

Every video at that location gives me this message: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Yes, As I said "They used to work as direct links in a browser, but not at all now. "  They changed the server farm a few months ago and they have been buggered ever since, I haven't bothered to call tech support because it's not really a problem.
