Logging Modeling

I stumbled across this site while searching for next winters project, a river or log pond floating loader.

My search brought me to the Big River Maru, a sternwheeler loader.

I don’t know who this modeler is, but his examples are just beautiful!

The menu is on the left. Scroll down to the Big River Maru and look at the entire page. Towards the bottom is his builders log.

Also are pages with his examples of logging locomotives, tractors, etc.

That Dolbeer…nice piece of model engineering…

I just looked at the Dolbeer Donkey. His modeling skills are light years ahead of mine.

Wow! What a great resource,

Thanks.

John

Wait til Rick Marty sees this :)!

What amazes me is his models actually work like the prototypes. (I assume.)

Wow! What other word is there.

Yea, I have been following this guys work for years.

Every time he posts a new build I take one of my logging models out side and throw rocks at it(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Wow! Great site! I’ve got to spend a couple of weeks exploring that. Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know who he is or what country he is from?

Could be the same place Ray Dunakin is from ?

He is from the Netherlands I believe (at least it says similar under the train bottom right of his site…)

The Hague, Netherlands.

It is a site worth bookmarking. Even if you, like me, are not up to his speed at least their are great ideas and a fascinating place just to view.

Thanks for posting that link John. His name is Loek (don’t know his last name) and goes under the username Loeksblues on the other site. He’s been doing build logs there for quite a while, you can search there on his name and see other project logs. It’s always amazing to see what he does. Here’s his current project,

Amazing machining! It runs as slick as the real thing.

And the boys on that “other site” ran him off with their questions of why he chose that particular scale. He should have been lauded, instead.

He finally came back, but still…

He’s got some mad skills, that’s for sure. I’ve followed some of his builds. The patience he has to create some beautiful equipment is outstanding.
