Got a report on the first day.  Sounds like it was warm, but went well.  I'm sure pictures will come over the next week.  Wish we could have pulled this off different and not missed this.  However, my "clone request" was put on hold.

      All the best, tomorrow.

Was a warm day, however, also a great day...   First coal train ran thru The new Memphis location and on to the power plant track to unload and return to the mines...   Haven't tallied any figures yet...

Thunder boomers around the area today...   Ops should be interesting....

Look forward to seeing the new trackage.  Reports from "the Marks", says its quite impressive.  Home in about a week.  Hopefully,

hot weather leaves with the thunderboomers.

For those who keep score...  Sat, we had 11 folks here and we ran 13 trains, including the unit coal train to the Power Plant south of Memphis..

Sun, we had 13 folks...   Ran 11 trains in between some rain showers..

Was a good weekend, even with the 90 degree temps and humidity....

Pics hopefully will follow in the upcoming days...

Dad ...it's been 4 days and no pics ?

My question is did this operation session really happen or were you over medicated and dreaming again?

      I don't know which I'm happier seeing?

The pics when they get here, or Dave and Andy going back and forth!

"Back and forth"...more like "Roundy-Roundy", which brings up the question; "What else do they do ?' and without pictures, none of us will ever know...too bad, it might have been rather enjoyable, to see great friends, operating one man's dream layout, and having fun.

I do hope that all went well, and we will all hear, and SEE many great operating sessions in the future.

I'm sure pictures will show up in time.  Andy and Jane's Bluestone Southern is a great example of modern railroad shortline and longhauling interaction and contradiction.  Minimal switching in routes of dedicated trains to dedicated locations, where major switching is done and then returning or long hauls of freight to distant locations on the BS mainline, that causes dispatching and passing nightmares for the Evansville Western Railroad as it uses the BS trackage to get to its own right of way.  Even then, there is conflict as the EWRR crosses the BS main at the modeled Woodlawn, just as the prototype EWRR crosses the BNSF trackage at the real Woodlawn, Illinois.  However, Andy and I have witnessed seeing the tops of prototype GP38's, as they negotiate the uneven interchange tracks.  When modeling, that was attempted, but the large scale models of GP38's fell over.  I'm guessing the weight differential between model and prototype does not transfer when scaling down.

The Bluestone Southern is a great railroad to operate on or just witness what is going on.  There is one more scheduled operating event this year and though Jan and I missed the September run, we are planning to be there in October.  The October event is the weekend of the 14th and 15th, 2017.  Mark your calendars.

Joyce and I also plan to be there in October. There is nothing else on our calendar for those days. She can help with crowd control, and I will help someone and try not to get lost on the layout !

Most of the usual photographers for the Sept Ops session didn't make this Ops, so pictures were few and far between.

Below are some of the shots taken:

Nice pictures, Andy.  I know how hard it is to even remember to take pictures when I'm operating.

We're looking forward to seeing it next month!

Yeah, you just have to wait for all the "cool"  people (whoever THEY many be) to come and take pictures in October.   We'll be there!

Uh oh.   I may have over promised some pictures.
