A Trip Around the Outer Loop

Okay guys … before you start picking out all the errors … the layout is not yet finished so cut me some slack. I decided to run some trains on Father’s Day just for fun. Here is what a trip around the outer loop looks like now. There are still a couple of hundred feet that needs final leveling and ballast. And the structures will have to wait a while longer. Just use your imagination – I do. And a couple of the towns are just imaginary for now. Also, one of the short trestles in Red Rock Canyon has been removed for a rebuild so the track runs across the chasm on PVC stringers (and without guard rails.) And … and … and … the list goes on and on. When I watch the video I cringe at some of the obvious things that still need work. But, it is up and running. And, for me at least, that is cause for celebration. At least you can get some idea of what I have in mind for this layout.

Enjoy,

Bob

Bob,

The layout is absolutely fantastic!! Great work, and thanks for sharing the video!

Excellent work Bob. Nice video trip around the loop.

Nice layout, Bob. What kind of track/switches do you have there?

Thanks, Michael. The track is weathered code 215 aluminum rail from SwitchCrafters threaded onto Llagas Creek narrow gauge ties strips. Turnouts are mostly homemade using Llagas cast frogs and SwitchCrafter composite ties. A few of the turnouts are commercial from Llagas Creek and SwitchCrafters. I try to use #10s on the main and #8 on the sidings. I used #10 frogs on all of the curved turnouts.

I enjoyed that!..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Great looking layout… nice run… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Bob,

Great to just get the whole loop in. as long as progress is being made that is all that counts. for several years on my layout that was all that I could hope for. I had a big three track fiddle yard that would rotate to get trains turned and headed back to ridgeway here.

Looks great so far. The hardest part and most important part is you have the track done and trains running. The fun part starts, creating the scenes a little at a time.

What Shawn said…Now comes the fun stuff, little detailing here and there. Nice layout!
