Large Scale Central

If I ever...

decide to expand my track work again, somebody please put me out of my misery.

I added several more industries, and used up all my track, save two 4ft LGB pieces. I am hosting the club on Saturday and this is something I’ve wanted to do for several years.

I’ll get some pics on Saturday. I still have to check for cross track level, then run my most stumble prone loco over every inch of track. I had planned to be here a month ago, but Devon’s monsoon interferred.

I hear you Steve adding to the track can be like opening a can of worms as I have been finding out with my addition to a passing siding. It seemed like a simple plan but now I find myself tearing up track 6 feet on either side of the original area.

Oh well we press on because when finished it will be a big improvement right?

Steve, you know it will make you happy, once the growing pains stop.

I hooked back into my railroad the abandon track of the old S curve. The part that isn’t overgrown makes a decent siding. But I have yet to put into play either expansion plan, and I probably never will.

What is Amtrak?

Heck, I don’t ad. I keep taking track out. So far 1 loop is embargoed and the reversing loop/siding is taken up. Too much work for this crippled senior citizen to keep up with.

I hear ya, Bro. My brain says I’m still 20, my body says, “Oh, no, you ain’t either.”

Steve, ever since the auto accident I have had the same issue. Some days, after a long drive, my left leg doesn’t want to play anymore.

Oh well, at least I am on the right side of the grass.

So, I take my stumble prone loco, put it on the track, and within the first five minutes, I find a turnout that needs some attention. I attempt to remove it to take it to the shop, and find that all of the ties are nailed to the wood underneath.

Who the he[[ does that?

I do, apparently.

After two unnecessary hours of work, and some words that would make a Bo’s’n blush, the problem is solved.

Too bad it’s not; or you wouldn’t know it wasn’t working :o

Steve, usually when I am trying to take something apart, and cursing the person who built it, I am cursing at me. So I understand your position.

Yes but, you’ve made it an Art form and your tribe encourages you!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

OK, so I put the loco back on the track, another turnout, one that has given yeoman service for years, has decided the day before the club meeting that it doesn’t want to work any more. Solution, Red Tag. Out of Service.

The new turnouts, the ones that I busted hump putting in, got wet during the last two day’s storms. The cedar swelled. They are no longer in gauge. Solution? Wait, Its windy, warm, maybe they will dry out by tomorrow. If not, Red Tag. The rest of the stuff works.

Just like real life.
