Large Scale Central

Aristocraft 4-6-2 Pacific

In order to fund our railroad for several more years I purchased a large collection of LGB, USA Trains and Aristocraft which I am just beginning to sell off.

One item I would like to start with is an Aristocraft Rio Grande 21509 Pacific w tender.

Before I can sell it I need to check it out to ensure it is running fine.

I am more familiar with Aristocraft trains in yellow boxes. This one is in a black box. I assume this is from an earlier generation and from my memory some of these had problems.

Are there any special things I need to do to check out this locomotive before I sell it.

Thanks

Stan

Stan A. The only real problem i have had with three older gen. was the main driver out of Gage and screws sometimes backed out on the axles. Had to Loc Tig. them after gage the wheel and re- quartering the drivers.

Due to the cast driver and track power here, i had to make the pony and trailing trucks wheels to pick up power also. Tender truck would help to.

They are a nice Eng and can pull a nice med. pass train.

Hope this helps some. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Hey Stan, do you still have any Aristo Craft, USA style ties For Sale? I’m in need of another box of ties for my yard project. I have plenty of rail, just no ties.

Noel

Thanks, just what I needed.

Chuck

Currently they are all spoken for to be picked up at Trainops. I will let you know after Trainops what is left.

I have yet to open the Pacific Box and do the steps Noel suggested.

If anyone is interested in this locomotive please PM me.

Stan

Here is a good tips page on the old Pacific http://www.girr.org/girr/tips/tips2/pacific_tips.html
