Large Scale Central

1" scale ride on trains?

its been awhile.

My North Table Creek is cut in half with two mainline loops.

The South Table Creek 1" RR is now over 3,000ft of track on the ground.

I was wondering if any others do ride on trains? I know its the dark side. But its still trains.

I’m on Face Book 1" scale ride on trains and backyard railroads sites.

Yea, I got hooked on FB , it helped to bring our cousins and family back together again . That’s a good thing.

Hi MARTY!!! You coming to Robby’s open house?

No ride on for me. I’ve only been into G Scale a couple years now. Although the ride on scale is fascinating. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Man I’d love to ,but this shoulder surgery has set me back $$$ wise. thanks for asking.

My son has been bugging me to put a ride on train on our property. The general manager has some thoughts of her own on the subject. There are some inexpensive DIY plans out there that look promising. If anyone remembers Mighty Casey ride on railroad from the '70s, there is a guy on Ebay who refurbishes them and sells them. The trains themselves are not terribly expensive. It’s the track that would be the cost issue for me. However it’s not too difficult to fabricate track. One guy makes track using 1" PVC electrical conduit and 2x4 ties. Check out Youtube. These guys are all mover the place there.

Hi Dan

price is always an issue. 1" rail is cheaper than GRY rail. I buy it from Robby at RLD.

As a contractor I get CCA wood very cheap if not free from jobs. go to my U tube ,NTCGRR , search. click videos.

Many use steel 3/4" channel. I use 1/2 angle in storage tracks.

I sold a lot of G to pay for this.

keep in touch

Hi Matt

I have lots to do on the GRY, mainly landscaping and rock work . loading area, storage and (2) 450’ mains are still in tack. As with the bridge.

I will finish the 1" transfer table and engine storage area in 1" then it will be complete. ( I did not say done) .

I still have my 88 100 ton hoppers and about 8 engines.

Its going to take time.

Dan, do you have a link for them?

You need 1" Viewliners and Superliners !

working on them.

Marty, if you look in “Other Scales” you’ll see there are a few other with the ride on addiction:

Hey Marty,

Jan and I follow the “Operating Sessions” in many scales, including 1 inch (1/12) at the Finger Lakes Live Steamers and the 1.5 inches (1/8) at

Finger Lakes Live Steamers, Chattanooga Society of Model Engineering at Eagle Point and the Ridge Live Steamers. Its great fun! And we are still

heavily involved in the Number 1 Gauge, but mostly with Ops and then, of course, OPs in HO, also.

So much to do, so little time.

Say Hi to Carrie, I think Jan and her still chat on Facebook

I’ve been following your progress on FB. I cant believe how much you got done. I remember seeing your post when you started. Its come a long way and looks great.

HI Marty- good to hear from you. I hope your shoulder recovery is coming along good, I know how difficult that can be.

Jerry

“Ride on” stuff is always interesting, and should be considered as the “Extra” Large Scale…always welcome here. I belong to the Finger Lakes gang, but am more interested in their 7 1/4" inch stuff, due to its extra stability. As you grow older, the extra stability is rather attractive !!.

It is GREAT to have you posting here. We need to hear more about the LARGER scale stuff too…it’s all LARGE SCALE MODEL RAILROADING, and is another great part of a GREAT hobby, involving GREAT people.

Fred Mills

Marty,

Nice to hear from you. Drop in once in awhile here and give some updates for those of us that don’t follow the ride on websites. You know, some teaser photos.

Marty Hmmm I remember him… Is it real or Marty’s…(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif) Welcome back

Marty, Ride stuff has really grown there… Looks fantastic…

Hope the shoulder heals quickly…

WOW, You all do make me feel welcome.

The hard part is not only has the trains grown, we have 4 grandkids all in sports, we have 18 rental units and I simply can’t keep up or have a social life. LOL

Carrie has her own business plus helping us in carpentry.

I really spend little time on a few sites .

I did not see a ," other scales" listed on here, other wise I would post there.

I found it, I did not scroll down far enough, I did not notice other categories** .

I’m glad to see Bob and all of you are doing fine.

thanks all.

Whats the next step Marty?

Genesse and Wyoming is looking for investors if you want to start off small ! You and dad (Andy) could split the trackage rights.

Love the streamliners!
