Open ER&I crew car

Here’s another crew car I just finished building. This is the “roadster” version.

Very good looking build. Do you have much issue on the 4 wheel cars getting the pedestals lined up so the axle is straight?

Chris

Not really, Chris. I have a bunch of what I call “set up blocks” of various widths, angles and thicknesses made from aluminum. And a set of small precision machinists squares. I do have to ream the journals to accept what ever wheel axle size I use. I’ve considered bushings in the journals, but as little as I run these cars, they won’t wear that fast.

Cool!

Very nice John.

Brings to mind 1850s and 1840s style cars.

Posts for handrails, where do they come from?

Forrest, those are Ozark Mini locomotive handrail posts. They are reamed to fit 1/16" rod.

Another kind of crew car. The fun never ends!

So that is #22 Gravity… Does that mean there were 21 other ones that were pushed by the model T over the hump and gravity took over at the top? It does look like an early roller coaster car…

Nice crew car John The painting/weathering looks great.

The Wicked Witch of the West is in the back seat 3rd in from the right. Back in the day before Dorthy was born!

Maybe the first 21 gravity cars were not as… successful for the well-being of the passengers? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)Todd, I’ll bet you could make a whole tableau on what happened to Car 13…

Really neat car John, and the figures sure add a lot of character!
