      Mike

you asked for diesel detailing parts and now you are on a beacon fetish. I get it and totally understand. The beacon has been done before as I have seen it modeled in G scale and posted HERE on LSC recently ....where I don't know but it has been done.   NO you are not going to find it available for mass manufactured purchase though to the best of my knowledge

I think the USA plow will work, if not ozark has one.  The beacon or a base for the exhisting beacon is what I really need.  I remember a guy from Germany did a really nice working one that actualy had 3 bulbs in it that flashed in sequence, very close to the real light.  But he seems to have vanished into the woodwork again.  I might upgrade to the USA 3 chime horn as well. I didnt realize that ozark had a few of the things I wanted.  I know there is a few other pieces I would like to see, just cannot think of them at the moment.    Mike

      Greg,

Aristo did make a 5 chime brass horn.  I have a dozen of them stashed away for future projects that I purchased from Navin when they announced their closing. I don't remember which loco they used it on.

Wow, well it could only be on the Dash 9, I believe, but sure would like to know, I will break mine out tomorrow and look. Can't imagine any other loco had them.

      Greg-others,

Here is a photo of the  Aristo brass 5 chime horn. The other two are Nathan M5's from Ozark along with a wagon wheel antenna, also from Ozark.  They come as kits. Ozark has them wrongly listed in the 1/32 section but they are 1/29. I know that for a fact.

I will say Yes Paul I have 5 sd45's and they all have the same horns. I like you bought a bunch from aristo when they were going out, they all came individual wrapped in tissue paper and a lot cheaper than usa plastic horns.

      cheers

Just throwing this out as food for thought, but if there's some part you're needing, and you're able to draw it for 3d printing, it might be possible for me to make them in brass for a reasonable price.  I'm doing my own mold making & wax injection here now, & sending the waxes off for investment casting, which has cut out a lot of overhead for me.

      Burl,

If I had something drawn up in 3D already (airhorn) what kind of file would you need to check it out?

Ideally, a Sketchup file.   I can view .stl files, but I might not be able to modify them.

Using Sketchup I designed a fire cracker antenna as well as EMD and GE style ditch lights. I printed them through shapeways. Will be working on getting better photos of the parts. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/wcmodels

I just realized that my DCC decoder appears to support a beacon that does 6 leds in sequence, to really look like it is turning. Maybe I can try it this weekend.

DesignSpark Mechanical will allow you to import and (probably) modify .stl files, though I've not tried it.

It is a free download if you want to try and they don't put crap on your computer.

OK, I'm using a considerably more powerful program than Sketchup.  I can export several types of interface files, but am not sure what Sketchup can import.  I will have the horn 3D printed, was more curious than anything.

If you are interested in the STL, or a different type of export file let me know.

      Thanks,

      Chris

Here's a link for a beacon I have using my QSI decoder. Since filming this I did speed up the beacon. https://flic.kr/p/Rbn6wa
