Hey John, thanks for posting. Lot's of information here and it looks like fun. A question for you. Does JMRI designate when you must "shove" a line of cars or are you doing it manually somehow?

All JMRI does is tell you what cars go to which industries and what cars get picked up. It's up to you to figure out how to get them in and out. Which can be a real head scratcher sometimes.

There is a place on the manifest where you can add instructions.

I have tried to figure all of that out in advance and added instructions where needed...

However, sometimes it just makes more sense to do it differently. Since part of my RR is a balloon track, it's possible to go West and end up going East   Another reason why the track direction is labeled in a few places.

I have a question on the willow hill siding.  In JMRI are the 5 locations entered as individual spurs?  This will cause many head aces with pickup and setouts.

Well, Jay, that's where all the fun comes in. (not to mention the head scratchin).

I have a spur in Hesperus with 5 industries on it.

In the bottom left is Chandlers Mercantile, then Bergs woodworking(next blue building), further down is Golding Freight(the 2nd red building), Vaggiano's Pawn Shop, right next to it, and at at the end of that spur is Coal Creek Lumber Co.

If cars are set at Goldings and Vaggianos, and other cars have to be set out at the lumber co, then those cars at Goldings and Vaggiano's have to be moved, usually out on the run around track behind the depot. Then put back to their original location once your done at the lumber co.

Another "headache" would be getting cars into Chandlers if there are cars sitting at Bergs. It's up to the engineer and conductor to figure what moves to make.

Yes, There are 7 'spurs' on the Willow Hill Industrial Track. JMRI knows it simply as the town of Willow Hill and each of those spots are a spur in the software, but in reality just a single track.  This was done intentionally to add a level of difficulty to this very small indoor railroad.

Thank You:  That is what I thought.  I have one place that I may try it.

I have added a second location lumber yard and meat packing.  So far it has not been a problem.  The only time that JMRI put a car at each location, the next round, it picked them both up.

I have two cars that have not moved in some time.  The build report says no moves left.  How do you change the default from 5 to say 10?
