Large Scale Central join dates

With all the problems over on the “other” large scale website I’m starting to get more active over here. I was just updating my profile and see that I have a join date of July 4,2001. Kind of surprised me. When did Bob start this website?

About 2000, I think, about the same time as MLS and the one Russ Reinburg started.

The big migration happened about the same time I joined here: December 9, 2005, but lots of folks were here before then. Can’t believe I’ve been posting here for 11 years (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Curious. My join date show April 3, 2006. Big know for a fact that I was posting here in 2003. Don’t think I changed my handle.

Join dates matter not as mine is off as well. Most Forum posts and Most “Thanks” one gets matter not either . It’s the content that is given that makes the mark and what keeps the HOBBY going!

I dunno if I have been joined, but I do know that I am coming apart. Does that count?

I guess I’d be considered a Newbie here. Over a hunderd posts here and my rep is still ‘Neutral’. Guess I have to get in real good with the regulars here to be ‘Well Respected’. I haven’t said a swear word here (yet) and I went to church last Sunday and I haven’t beaten my wife or kick the dog. I also cleaned the garage and raked up all the leaves in the front and back yards yesterday. And I just spent all my Christmas cash on a USA Trains reefer that I’ve wanted for months. Am I respected yet or do I have to hammer down a golden spike first?

Anyway, 'nuff about me. I’m glad Paul Burch will be posting here more. I would like a train set just like his. Have any of you seen that picture of his layout with two beautifully detailed Southern Pacific diesels sitting next to each other on the tracks? What a realistic scene that is - the track work and all. Just like being there. And that GS-1 locomotive! Paul, would you please post more pictures of your trains and layout here; especially your engines?

Ahhhhh, but did you stay at a Holiday Inn last nite?..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Michael,

I wouldn’t look at post counts as a measure of respectability, knowledge, or longevity. I have a post count of over 5000, what does that mean? I am a social butterfly. I talk too much, ramble too much, dream out loud to much. I am still very much a newby to the hobby if not this site also. Way more guys on here with way more knowledge and advice that have lower post counts.

I started this site on June 28, 2000, the same, or maybe next, day as The Great Temper Tantrum. The LSC domains were registered on June 30, 2000.

Ah yes, the great LSOL fiasco and meltdown.

Is LSOL the site that was run by the guy who lives in Post Falls, ID? I met him once and he seemed to be anti LSC.

I Know for a fact that I’ve been posting here since well before my “official” member since date of 2006. IIRC there was a big “upgrade” that Bob did and IIRC part of it was resetting the member registration dates and IIRC it also zeroed out past post count totals.

So I am a member of the great migration, April 2005 for me.

And as MLS slowly augers itself into the ground (they lost a whole bunch of people’s picture files) I’m getting fully migrated (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Besides after almost 20,000 posts there, what else is there to talk about ha ha!

Let’s see, The lousy site software, corporate ownership, picture file loss apparently… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)Yup, glad I walked away back when I did, and even more glad that Bob runs such a fine ship here and allows us all to ride along.

Thanks Bob!

Hey the picture file loss problem has only been since November 11, and they still have not admitted the fact they deleted/lost people’s files.

Oh well, it was nice when the owner cared about trains and the members…

It’s widely known in site admin circles that VS is where good sites go to die. They buy a site, change the software to their company-standard set, lard up each page with ads (including in-line ads in forum threads), and let it run autonomously. They are an ad-revenue-generation company.

OK, I feel like I’m a part of the club here now. Whoever gave me the “Well Respected” status (Bob?), thanks very much! I’ll try not to blow it. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Michael,

That was me after your nice comments.

Thanks, Paul. Appreciate that! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Would you mind if I posted a few pictures of your trains here for those who haven’t seen them before? I know it’s not the norm for someone to post pictures of someone else’s layout, but…the realism is something else and a sight to see.
