New Freight Depot

I had the saws out today working on another project and have been wanting to build a freight depot. I had some cedar and redwood laying around and gave it a shot.

Nice Work Bob. Now you just need some “clutter” for the deck. Maybe a clerk with his chair leaned back against the wall sleeping.

Nice work.

Looks built to last and its proportions do catch the various small town and branch line freight depots seen in books throughout the decades.

Still have all your fingers? Excellent!

I see 2 geezers a checker board and a sleeping dog as they wait for a load to be delivered…

John

Thanks guys…Yup all my fingers…I practice “Safe Power Tooling”…the beers dont start flowing until the power tools are put away. I stained the dock today and started thinking about paint and other details including lights. I found a couple of items at Ozark Miniatures I will put on my shopping list. Any other places for detail parts, figures, freight, clutter??

Thoughts on a paint color? I looked on line for examples, but nothing really jumped out at me. I have one more spot next to the depot for another small industry…any ideas?

Ill post more pix once I detail it out a bit…when I get time!

Well, a balloon stuffing factory doesn’t take up much space.

Coopers > wooden staves in (bundles) > barrels out.

Kinda depends on your era for my suggestions, if I’m going to keep them plausible.

David is more free range, I’m afraid. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Well, if he was in Pittsburgh, I would have suggested the Pittsburgh Pre-Fab Pothole Factory…but he isn’t…so I didn’t.

Acme Corporation

I was going back to my days in the Boy Scouts and was thinking of a “Left Handed Smoke Shifter Co”

Why not the Noodle Sinker company? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Acme Handling Company

Acme Distributing

Rooster Novelty Company

McGown Stuffing Company

Frein Golf Ball Recycling Co.

California Smog

Bob’s Toothpick Testing Labs

I could go on, but I shouldn’t.

Great results from lumber scraps!

LOL!! Good one!

I had some time to do a bit more work on the depot last week. Board and Batten siding, paint, cedar shingle roof, lights. Still need to cover the overhang roof and a bit more work to get it detailed out to where I want it. Looks great at night…those pix are on the other camera

Wow, the paint made that pop!

Looks simple but it adds a lot. Very nice.

Yeah, the paint looks great!
