Large Scale Central

E1 Santa Fe coming along.

E1 Santa Fe coming along.

Very Sharp Jerry!

Yeah, what Sean said… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Those early streamliners are so cool.

It’s all in the nose …

sexy loco!

Keep up the good work Jerry.

Very cool. My favorite loco.

One thing though, the warbonnet curves around the window:

Some great E1 detail photos can be found here:

Interesting on the location of the side grills next to the windows.

But I definitely understand the compromises that come along with incorrect models.

And you’ll at least actually have an E1. We don’t even have a plastic model in HO yet. Although the BLIs models should be coming around Christmas time.

Didn’t B&O also have some E1s? Wonder if their windows were further back - there were carbody diesels with different windows for different RRs. Off to play in Google now to find out.

Well, that was fast, the B&O units were designated EA in a very similar carbody, and, yes, that set of windows was a long way back from where they were on ATSF E1s

Found this page about those early streamliners as a category. Includes under construction photo of a B&O EA

Very similar EA.

Looking closer, yes now I think the first window location is a tad back. Just that they are windows, not side grills. So maybe the B&O EA?

But such a cool looking loco in G scale is awesome whatever the prototype. And the Warbonnet is a little flashier than the B&O paint (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

No own opinion, a longer bonnet that’s rounded would look better than a short angle version but I do understand the issues your dealing with.

Jerry, my 2¢, take it to what its worth.

I think the warbonnet is more important than the “window” vents are. If it was me, I’d paint a proper bonnet, even if that meant bisecting one of the “windows.”

Jerry, no need to “take your ball and go home.” I thought it was a pretty positive thread.

Well, I think I’ll just quit posting anymore pictures of this project. Bob, you can just pull the whole thing, if you would.

Aw C’mon Jerry, The Only Rule is Have Fun.

Ignore everything that detracts from your fun and let it go.

Threads collect others ideas, we are helpless, like a duck; let it roll off yer back.

I like what you’ve done.
