Large Scale Central

School House - Waubeka

This one room school house project has been on the back burner for a while. A start has now been made, the pic shows the basic structure. Much intricate (for me) work is to be done, such as chimney, bell cradle, windows/shuttered, doors and porch.

It is not meant to be an exact replica, but a good impression of the structure which as many will know is part of the history of America. For me it will make another feature which was once common in the United States complementing my covered bridge, red barn, wooden grain elevator and small flag stop.

It will be my last structure build as there is, at present, little room for anything else.

Looking good Alan.

Here’s the real thing I photographed just before it was demolished.

Some details:

I have more photos, if you are interested. Album

That was a lovely little structure Dave. I wonder why was it not preserved and located somewhere else so folks could visit it?

I wonder of there was any money hidden behind the blackboard? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

As you see the second pic in my post shows what the real place looks like, There is a very large flag pole and area for celebrations outside. The interior is kind of a museum.

I guess if you post some more pics other Members here might like to make a build from what they see.

An almost identical school house was moved to the History Center of Olmsted County and preserved, so I guess they didn’t need two!

Blackboard. Money behind? We will never know.

I am pleased that a similar school house has been saved Dave. I give it the thumbs up! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

The reference to the money behind the blackboard is this movie:

both nice buildings.
