Large Scale Central

A new depot

Since the weather has turned hot and muggy it isn’t real pleasant to work outside, so since the new town of Porter on my layout needs a station I decided to start on that. I’ve never actually seen a picture of a station at Porter, and I’m not sure it even had a formal station. With that in mind I decided it needed something fancy. I’ve always admired the depot at Ridgeway and this gives me a good excuse to model it, though it’ll be a cut down version.

What I liked about was this side with the twin dormers and double windows on each side.

The Freight section will be the part that gets cut down to about a 1/4 of the size. And none of that fancy scallop on the roof.

The base for this will be 36" long by 18" wide.

It’ll be built like the rest. Coroplast with a Precision Products veneer.

Geez’s don’t pick a hard one, Ken. Look forward to seeing the progress.

It might take awhile…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ya done yet?

That will be gem… Neat looking building! Will be fun to watch come together.

Nice start Ken. I’m with Ric on this, but I’m sure you’ll get it done and looking good all at once(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Yeah, this is going to be interestink. The station of seven gables.

Isn’t that an Eagles song!

You’re thinking of some hotel…

West of the Colorado River.

Cool looks like fun to build

Maybe this would be easier to build Ken!

Not by much, from the looks of it…

It’s defiantly a beauty!

The details would be easy with 3d printing.

Sure is. Where is it located?

That will be a piece of cake for Ken. I bet it will be done by the weekend.

That would look good on your layout…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I have a layout … Hmmmm … I haven’t seen it for a longggggg time … But I can see the weeds as I walk by!

thus far i have seen two things in this thread. a “new” type of clamps and the best side of advertizing - the reuse of signs.

and sean already shows off, what he wants to build at next year’s challenge?

The “best” part is they’re free…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
