Winter and snow!

It’s been a while since I took any time to run some trains in the winter …

I made up the blower train… One rotary snow blower ( batt. powered ) one GP-9 ( also Batt. powered ) a Batt. car then caboose.

I set them out to get acclimated to the cold … covered because of the snow!

Removed covering.

Opened er up to install Batt.

Ok all set to go …

Hmmm no power… Scotty …

Bad batt. lead …

Plan “B”

Batt. powered unit worked OK … But … with track power I could of lashed up two or three engines … traction tires also would of helped…

It did it’s job, and I did have some fun !

Fun pics Sean, Thanks.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Snow’s a coming !!!

Charlie Brown has sent out the rotary to make sure all is well when the snow does arrive!

You’re seeing an Aristo track cleaning car, along with a Trackman 2000 track cleaner.

I’m going to try track power for this next attempt , as one battery engine was a little too light to push the rotary.

Thanks! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yet another winter storm. We were doing so good this year too. All through December it was warm! Now, ugh. Cold, ice, snow…blah. I took this pic today from inside. Somewhere there is a railroad out there. I’ll go look for it in the spring. lol

Come on Cousin Matt? You call that a winter storm??

If you Edit we will know!

Winter 2016. We’ve finally got rain, but it’s the oranges that are the problem.

BTW …great pics so far guys !

If you slowed down on the plowing perhaps you might be able to make York next year!

Lol. No editing here. This snow was pretty weak, but we weren’t supposed to get any. It was supposed to rain. lol. Ended up with right at 3" of fluffy snow. I should have been a weather man. Only job you can be right half the time and keep your job.

Bah, apparently I don’t know how to quote text. Whatever I type shows up in the quote. I give up. lol.

You are right. You don’t know how to do it! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

In the reply dialog box, if the type is indented then its in quotes. If its not indented then its not in quotes. You just need to point and click your cursor further down the dialog box so its not indented.

…or click on the quote button in the tool bar to toggle the quote box on or off. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Joe, fine! Be that way. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Gentlemen; please note Winter Operation MUST include snow. That is that COLD white wet stuff that is currantly covering the NorthEastern part of our country! Other wise you are one of the lucky ones who does not have to deal with the stuff! Paul

Don’t see why there’s MUST be snow. Seems to me mud, leaves, and oranges are impediments to running trains. Besides, our Southern Hemisphere brethren won’t be able to show us snow until JULY!

After all, this is supposed to be fun. I’m not having fun if I can’t feel my fingers and there are icicles hanging from my nose!

Who says you MUST have snow for it to be winter? It’s cold here in N. Florida right now. 39ºF all day. I did go out and run a passenger train extra, and it sure as heck seemed like winter to me! Dick is right. There are other things that make for winter operations than snow in the northern hemisphere. And the snow here isn’t wet, its a very dry powder. That made it easy to clear off the Jeep and driveway
