New Aristo throw bar

At least its new to me. Click.

Yes Steve. These were discussed on another thread some time ago. I am waiting to hear how they work out, before I order a set for my spare parts inventory. It’s nice that GLX is stepping up to the plate, to help those of us with the orphaned Aristo products.

I will install mine (bought 2 of the sets) when I get back from TOC’s … They look good.

Greg

I’ll be interested in how they work out. I might even replace my brass throwbars.

Not too shabby.

Any one have any updates for these?

How did they work out for you?

Update…all I can contribute, is that they work quite well, and are a welcome replacement for one of the major weaknesses of the Aristo Wide Radius, #6, and wye switches…they will also work on those other, rather small radius switches.

They are marketed well in a handy form, and overcome the weaknesses of the original throw bars. The replacement is a rather simple task, that most people will not have much trouble with. Just try not to loose the screws and spacers, used on the original part…you need them.

At around a dollar a piece, the price is good.

Mine look ok, getting a bit gray on the edges after a year, but no stress fractures.

I believe I get more sun than Fred.

“…I believe I get more sun than Fred.”

No mention of SPF value  but i do use* on majority of outdoor creations to lengthen paint life and as (likely pseudo) sealer…

  • a bit extra scheduling req’d since I can only apply when able to leave outdoors for at least a wk to allow gassing out the toxic VOCs.

I have most of my first batch of 50 installed and will order a second batch in the next few weeks. I like them much better then the original aristo throw.

I sell the old Aristo throws that are in good shape on EBAY.

Stan

I ordered some and they fit real nice!

Do these work on USA trains #6 switches as well? (Looks like it might be one in Sean’s photo?).

That is a USA’s number 6 in the pic!

Interesting, that the spacing of the holes is the same, or at least close enough that the #6 switch works.

Sean, were the holes of the right size? And do the #6 USAT switches use brass bushings like Aristo?

Thanks, Greg

I found no bushings … The setup you see in the pics works … the throw bar instructions said there were two diff. sized holes for switch bars…I didn’t notice any difference.

Whoa, Sean, where did the other switch throwing parts come from?

Whoops, read Lou’s post wrong, sorry, you want to know about the other stuff.
