A Japanese maglev that is the fastest passenger train in the world has broken its own speed record. Operator JR Central said the train reached 375 miles per hour in a test run on Tuesday.
Shucks, that’s nothing compared to a layout tour at a garden railroad convention. Typical question from a layout visitor: “How many trains do you have and how fast will they go?”
Question from a kid at the train show, “Can the train go any faster?” My answer, “Yes it can, but no it won’t.” The kid walked away displeased.
I cant imagine going 375mph on the ground. That has to be a mind blowing experience. The part that scares me is the survival aspect (or lack of one) in the event of an accident.

Kamikaze, ha ha. Yea, I can see that.That why said the lack of survival aspect in the event of an accident. That would kinda deter me from riding the thing more then once.

How fast is 375 mph in 1:24 scale?? If my calculations are correct, that’s 33,000 feet per minute, which would mean my model train would have to travel 1,375 feet per minute? Bahmann and USA Trains have some catching up to do.
I don’t think there’s ever been a crash or derailment in Japan for the fast trains. Nevertheless, I don’t wanna go 375 mph in nothin’.
