Large Scale Central

Ultimate G Scale

As many of you already know, several well-known railroad hobbyist websites have joined forces to create a new and improved Internet experience for serious large scale enthusiasts. The new site, called Ultimate G Scale, incorporates the best features from several of its predecessors, including Large Scale On-Line, MyLargeScale, Garden Railroad, and Large Scale Central.

It doesn’t matter if you are an Fn3 fine-scaler, or a ten-foot rule LGB enthusiast, or somewhere in between … if you operate on 45mm we have something for you.

The new service is multi-tiered and includes both free and premier level accounts. Administrators have carefully reviewed the posting histories of individuals on existing sites and have extended membership invitations to prospective charter members.

If selected to participate, your initial log-on credentials and instructions have been sent to your personal e-mail account. All invited charter members who accept within the first month will receive free lifetime premier membership accounts.

Hope to see some of you there,

Bob

Me me me. I love April 1 St. Lol

Bob, let me present to you my take on how this post comes off.

As many of you already know …

Well, I read all three of the still active boards you mention and this is the first hint of a new web site / forum I have seen.

The new service is multi-tiered and includes both free and premier level accounts.

The only site listed above that was not either totally free or tiered (in a voluntary way) was Large Scale Online, and they are the one no longer in existence.

Administrators have carefully reviewed the posting histories of individuals on existing sites and have extended membership invitations to prospective charter members.

This is beginning to sound elitist. Who are the administrators and what is the process they are using to ‘qualify’ folks for this charter membership invitation? Is this only for folks who prolifically post? Or folks who attend the ECLSTS every year? Or maybe just folks who pay for the existing sites?

If selected to participate … members who accept within the first month … free lifetime premier membership accounts.

How does one get his/her name in the hat to be selected? Do you have to be the ‘perfect’ member of the other sites, never questioning or descenting on any subject?

Hope to see some of you there,

This sure looks to me like there will be a process of selection. Is there an application form we need to fill out, and how do we get one?

Bob, that whole introduction has the taste of an elitist club comprised of only those folks who have the affluence to pay for membership (one reason I left LSOL), and this whole ‘invite’ sounds like a ‘good ole boys club’ intro. I seriously hope that is not where this is headed. Our hobby needs more unity, not more segregation. And after the events of late here on this forum it almost sounds like a 'we need a new forum so we can eliminate those who don’t think just like us.

If my take is wrong, please correct me and fill in some of the blanks.

C’mon. It’s April Fools Day!

Joe,

If it hadn’t been for the recent events here on LSC I might have found some humor in it. Maybe just bad timing, not to mention I have been down that road once before on fora of another topic. Not looking forward to another trip.

LOL!

When does my invite arrive ???

Pete,

“It’s in the mail.” (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Once again I have been ignored by UGS. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

What the hey! I went looking for it and and when I clicked on the site this is all I got…

I got “Error 403 Forbidden.”

Steve you really want to belong to a group of hand picked folks, who, because they are hand picked, will tend to thing of themselves as better then the average large scaler? I don’t. I would rather hang here with the LSC crazy train folks, and Rooster.

Hand-made Thomas Hats! The Ultimate! What a find, Greg.

I make no promises on what you can buy… but they list all the major manufacturers, pictures like this from their Aristo page:

Who knows what is really in stock, but this is what I found under ultimate g scale:

Like Groucho, I wouldn’t belong to a club that would have me as a member. I make an exception for this joint, 'cause yer all a bunch of reprobates.

BTW, David, check the date that the original post was made. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Steve, I know the date of the post. I was just trying to play along with the Large Scale Central Home Version.
