*old* My Locosound Question(s)

recently installed an old MyLocoSound card in Thomas (actually Annie). I’m perplexed with the standing still sound.

When I place 14.4v from the Battery to the Input of the Sound Card, it immediately begins to chuff. No matter what I do with the throttle, it chuffs away on it’s on.

When I remove the 14.4v from the battery and just allow the ‘motor’ input to feed the card, it works like it should…no chuff till voltage applied via the throttle.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Cale.

The old version had two different Steam sound systems.

One is voltage chuff controlled and the other uses a timer. You may need to play around with the head shunt settings to get it to work correctly. The instructions have different settings for different brands of ESC’s.
There is an adjustment trim pot that can set the chuff start point.

The new version uses one pcb that is selectable for either.

Also, with some of the early RCS ESC’s you have to be careful which terminal the whistle control uses.
