More Fun With Coroplast

Thinking it was supposed to rain today,I fiddled around in The Bartwerks… I decided I wanted a freight house to go with my depot…that was a fairly easy layout since its basically the same as the depot itself…just doors and winders are different…

While playing with some scraps…an idea was hatched…Would it work? YES!!! It works!!! And the project sort of snowballed from there…

Theres the bottom third of a 5 gallon bucket hiding under there…and the rest is coro…

What are you using for glue? I used caulk on one building and some super glue on some trim. Hoping for something better.

Goop seems to work good. And that’s usually Barts adhesive of choice…

Yep … LNG …Lawn & Garden GOOP…Official Adhesive of The Bartwerks…

Water tank looks great! Continue.

Made a little progress this week…got in a supply of coinstruction material this evening… the freighthouse has four walls…

And the water tank has tank bands, roof trim and a platform to go on top of the tower…

When will it be finished?

Looking good Bart. That coro is really working out for you. Does the candidate know what he paid for ?

Bart, That looks great. I did not know that stuff was available. I used plastic decking for a lot of my buildings.:0

Now from the Bastion of Creativity that is The Bartwerks…More fun with found materials…the tank got a roof made from Diet Pepsi cans…

I milled the wood timbers for the tower from leftover pallet/packing material salvaged from the dumpster at work…

Sweet!

Bart- Slick idea on the soda pop roof! I love it! Great looking build all together.

Nice job;)

Bart that is a great idea!

Interesting use of materials. What kind of pizza in the box? A good Peperoni and pineapple gets my creative juices flowing.

Dan

Your cans sure look better than my cans. Care to share your technique? That’s a nice looking roof.

How are you going to treat the timbers? Or will this not stay out?

I to would like to know how that roof technique is done. Great job. Regards,Ron

Actually its so easy that I’m surprised that others haven’t done it already…and actually I bet most of you HAVE just with another medium. I just cut the cans flat (sawed off the top and bottom on a bandsaw and sliced up the side with siccors ) and then cut stripsotf the resulting material. Then I notch the strip about halfway through (4 HO SCALE feet apart looked right) and then applied the resulting strip to the roof with POWER GRAB. Just like we used to do in the smaller scales with construction paper. Start from the edge and work toward the peak making sure to stagger the notches and there ya have it…Easy but tedious, I think there are about 10-12 cans in the roof, but hey it was a rainy Saturday…

Yes it will stay out, but the layout is up on benchwork so it won’t be in close proximity to the ground, its gonna get a healthy coat of primer and exterior laytex…

Pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese…but the pizza was already dead and buried this weekends…just to the left of the photo was the entire stack of cardboard waiting for me to take to recycling…
