Large Scale Central

Operations of a much larger kind

My local miniature railway took part in an event called GL5 about 2 weeks ago. GL5 is realistic operations using 5 inch gauge equipment. All the trains run to preset timetables and scale speeds. I took some photos and a quick video. I did not have anything of my own to run yet, maybe someday.

Cool! Great pictures.

Neat! Do you guys do any switching?

Neato!!!

Thanks! Ken, switching is a big part too. This little R/C switcher (shunter) did most of the work

Nice layout in a beautiful setting!

By any chance is this place near Yorkshire? All of my family is from Mitton in Yorkshire.

Gary, about 50 miles away.

The layout is near Carnforth, Lancashire

Small world, indeed! Thank you.

If you ever get a chance to visit the little town of Mitton, my G-G-G-G-G-Grandfather was vicar of Little Mitton Church from 1772 until 1814 (his death). He is buried in the old churchyard. It has been my ambition to finally return to England and see it for myself. I’m running out of time.

Your very welcome to visit, or anybody else within reasonable traveling distance.

I hope you get over to the UK someday, Yorkshire is well covered for trains
